would it be possible to withdraw the rear differental unit from a 2003 110 (non salisbury) and place it into the rear axle casing of an early 90's tdi 90 ? Then replace the dif unit in the 110 with the part taken from the 90? Have the casings changed over the years or would the two parts still mate?
Am I right from my readings on the forum that the front units will be the same regardless of age?
Many thanks for your help. I'm asking because of the possibility of a vehicle swap and I don't want to lose the new ARB lockers I have just put in the 110.

I think that the short answer is no :)

if the diffs are incompatible (which i am pretty sure is what you meant) then can the entire axle units be exchanged?? I am naturally pretty keen to do whatever I can to save the lockers!

AFAIK you want a replacement diff from a P38 Range Rover.

The rear diff from a TD5 110 will have the P38 type diff assembly, so your early 90 rear axle will not fit, you can indeed swop over the compleat axle, i have just fitted a TD5 110 axle to my early hybrid landy, so i gain the four pin diff, hope this helps,

thanks for that!
