Title: Rear window problem
Post by: landandy on October 22, 2008, 16:49:47
Hi all a friend of mine is having problems with the rear windows. At first they would only work when he had driven a few miles now they don't work at all any ideas. Also when he puts hazard Warner on only one indicator works.

That sounds like a bad earth or dodgy switches / relay for the indicators. As for the windows, a loose connection somewhere maybe?

do the rear windows have a preasure sensor like the sun roofs do to stop kids heads being trapped in them? If they do then the sensor might be bunged up?

My TD5 does, I know this because a friend wound the rear window up whilst another rather inebriated friend's head was sticking out of it :)  The pressure was enough to wedge his head in the gap but not enough to crush his skull like a grape, fortunately.

I'm not sure how this works though - is it just limiting the current supplied to the motor, rather than having some sort of pressure device?

I have a 300tdi andnot sure how it works because I only found out after I sprayed silicone grease stuff out of a can onto the runners and the sun roofa have never worked since. Thankfully I closed them with an allen key through the flap where the manaul optioon is in the factory.

the only thing i would say about the instructions is the 7mm nuts, you don't need to undo all of them just loosen the front 2 and CAREFULLY pry off the cover where the plugs plug in then slide the board out.
