Chaps ,
Please sign the petition - it would be a massive shame to the only flying vulcan left in the world mothballed after so much hard work restoring her.

Here's a link to the Vulcan trust for more information:

Saw it at Farnborough this year and it was phenomenal, the noise when it took off, the ground shock it was incredible!!
-
We also signed the petition. We went to Fairford to see it, but of course the rain ended play for the weekend!!
We can remember it from our childhood, what an awesome tool!
Keep it in the air!
-
Yeah I was at Fairford for the whole weekend in my caravan! was pretty wet!
Still at least I saw the practice day on Friday so saw most of the stuff in the air, except the Vulcan
Was a realy shame it was cancelled but the guys in 4x4's on the campsite I was in had a great time pulling everyone out! was shame my Disco was at home that weekend!!

Hi Jim,
we arrived on the Thursday with the caravan, saw loads of planes arriving, and practicing. We stayed til Monday afternoon, which meant we could see them all leaving too! We still had a great time, ate loads, drank loads, didnt really go far, as our site was right at the end of the runway!!!
We were well and truly gutted when it was cancelled, we had tickets for Saturday. when we found out it wouldnt be on, we got tickets for Sunday too, just in case!
Which campsite did you stay on?
cheers
Karen

We stopped on the Down Ampney Football club site, as we were late booking and all the sites aroud fairford were full!
This year we'll be booking earlier to make sure we get closer!
-
sent you a PM Jim,
cheers
Karen

Signed.
Was gutted it couldn't fly at Dunsfold this year. The Vulcan, Concorde and the Lockheed Blakbird are prob my earliest and best memories from when Dad used to take us to Farnborough as nippers. I remember our cheap ear defenders weren't good enough for any of those three - awesome!
-
all done
-
I saw it the other day! I went for a walk at lunchtime, looked up and there she was...stirring stuff
-
fantastic aircraft, have signed
-
Signed.
When I was a kid we lived close to RAF Marham. Whenever the Vulcan went over it would rattle the windows for ages and you could hear it miles away. The MOD fitted secondry glazing in homes within a certain radius of the base, because of the Vulcan I think.
-
Signed - I saw it @ Lowestoft this year, been many years since I last saw one fly, what an amazing sight and sound too

XH558 should be moving from Farnbrough in the near future, currently there are some Brake Issues.
From the response from earlier petitions, the Government feels it has donated enough to the Restoration Process.
We now are flying Her on Public and Corporate Donations/Sponsorship. BUT WE NEED MORE!
If you would like to have a look at the Official Support Website the Address is www.tvoc.co.uk
UPDATE ...
Just read that the Brakes SHOULD be completed by This Morning and XH558 to Fly back to Bruntingthorpe
THIS AFTERNOON!
-
signed.
Memories of the Delta Wing include seeing a pair flying low level through the mountain valleys in Wales, when I was youngling, many moons ago.
Saying that they might have been a pair of Wright Brothers planes. Now, where did I put my slippers?
-
Signed and passed on to a few others.
I have seen this recently a few times over Northampton, my lad was well impressed by it.
-
My lasting memory of the Vulcan is seeing one display at Greenham Common before it became a missile base (showing my age ). It was pulling near vertical climbs followed by the most amazing stallturns you would ever see
-
UPDATE ..
XH558 should be leaving Farnbrough at 13:30 TOMORROW (11/11/08) to Fly back to Bruntingthorpe
-
Well,
She's now back at Brunty and no more flights this year.
Regretfully that's a definate as there are going to be 10,000 Brand New Cars stored on the Runway :'(

Awesome video! - When did she get back to Bruntingthorpe?
Darren
-
She landed on Wednesday (12th) .. that was Her 3rd attempt owing to crosswinds and the risk of damaging Vehicles parked at the side of the runway
