Title: Gordon - She's alive (Flooded V8 etc)
Post by: beattiedh on February 27, 2005, 19:00:54
Dear all

Having had some issues http://forums.mud-club.com/viewtopic.php?t=5974 and after much kind advice not getting me anywhere I rang Safari Engineering. A local company who service Landies and sell ex Military kit.

They gave me the following advice.

1) Chuck away the NGK plugs and get Champion
2) Disconnect the pump relay from the coil
3) Take out the plugs and turn over the engine to blow out the petrol
4) Leave the engine to breathe for a while.

After three weeks it fired first time and blew out a bit of blue smoke. Then we went and did some mud to give it a good run out.

Many thanks for all your help and if you have an EFi it seeems disconnecting the pump relay is the trick.

Funny how people's oppinions differ, a lot I've spoken too wouldn't touch Champion with a bargepole, whereas NGK have a good reputation.
ANyhow, the pump relay is probaly to allow you to evacuate a flooded engine, on n EFI it would be the same as pulling the fuse wouldn't it?
