when changing a head gaskit on a 19j (2.5td) engine do you put the gaskit on dry or do you need some sort of gaskit seal?

on old engines i use wellseal on the block thats all

its a old school stuf its a type of glue in a tube it does not set hard very good for sealing head gaskets any dcent factors should sell it

I would say it appears more like a treacle/varnish, When i use to build "old" engines i swore by the stuff, I have opened up engines after years and thousands of miles and its still sticky :)
Also VERY good if it leaks in ya toolbox, I guarantee your spanners will never rattle in transit again :lol: Trust me on that one :oops:
As stated bove a proper suppliers should stock it

Blimey, there's a blast from the past, I didn't know they still sold that. Top stuff.. Just the thinnest of smears is all you need mate. I used to race MG's with engines stuck together with the stuff, it worked well for me
Have a look on the 'bay too.. i see it on there and the packaging hasn't changed in the last 20years either!
