Post by: trickydicky on October 30, 2008, 19:11:41
when changing a head gaskit on a 19j (2.5td) engine do you put the gaskit on dry or do you need some sort of gaskit seal?

I would say it appears more like a treacle/varnish, When i use to build "old" engines i swore by the stuff,  I have opened up engines after years and thousands of miles and its still sticky  :)

Also VERY good if it leaks in ya toolbox, I guarantee your spanners will never rattle in transit again  Trust me on that one

As stated bove a proper suppliers should stock it

Blimey,  there's a blast from the past, I didn't know they still sold that. Top stuff.. Just the thinnest of smears is all you need mate. I used to race MG's with engines stuck together with the stuff, it worked well for me

Have a look on the 'bay too.. i see it on there and the packaging hasn't changed in the last 20years either!
