Post by: bambamjj on November 01, 2008, 16:53:25
Hi all me again  :D

in the last 3 months i have been able to select Hi & Low ratio including diff lock, but it was a bot stiff

Been out today just playing and afte a biot of force was able to go from Hi to Low but unable to go across the gate to Lock?

Can anyone offer an answer as to why or even better how to fix it?  [-o<

Could be just lack of use.
Remove the center consol, and have a look at the mechanisum from the top. Drip a load of 3-in-1 onto all the moveable parts you can see, maybe even remove the top cover on the difflock slider mechanisum and get some oil in there as well. There's like a balljoint that the shifter sits in, this is the main place to start withe the oil.
Then leave overnight and try moving the Hi/Low/Difflock lever to loosen it up.

It sounds as if the steel shaft that runs through the ally casing has stuck... or is about to....... mine needed dismantling, cleaning up, greasing and re-assssembling.......

I just had to sort mine. 12 years old, never been used and no rubber gaiter on top! VERY stuck. Be careful with the connecting/ slide rod inside, If you have to hit it with a hammer, try and place a socket in the hole, stop it mishaping under force, I made that mistake, cost me £30 for another from the scrappers.
