Hi, does anyone know how to value a 2005 110 xs which has been stolen and recovered? I bought a 110 which was meant to be a 2000 model which turns out to be a ringed/ changed identity car, I am now fighting with the insurance company who owns it for a price to buy it back from them. At the moment they are wanting over £9000 for it which I think is really unfair as all the aircon was removed, it does not have the original wheels and also the id needs to be re stamped with the true id. Also the person who I bought it from added lots of extras which the insurance company wont take account of even though they are not stolen and belong to me as I bought them in good faith. Any help with this would be of great help as I really don't know how to value the car or fight with the insurance company.

this is where it gets a minefield - the ins company will want the full price of what THEY paid out..regardless of whats on or not, on it.. sad fact of life - thats why HPi reports etc are worth their weight in gold..
How did you buy it? private/dealer ebay? cash or credit card - and also WHEN did you buy it.. as Im sure there is a limit on 'snatch backs' due to number of hands its passed through - otherwise a lot of people would be done for handling stolen goods etc.

Hi, the insurance want pretty much what the full trade price is and wont listen to the fact that everything fitted post theft is mine. I did do a HPI check on it, they are not worth anything now as on a ringed car it will come back clear as it did for me but the one car their insurance does not cover is changed identity vehicles.
Will let you know how this turns out as have to let the insurance know moro.
Thanks
Rob

Strip it of everything that wasnt on it when it was stolen (it is your stuff after all). See how much they want for the shell. Make sure that they know they will need a proper recovery truck to come get it as it will have no wheels on it and the engine dosn't run (you did service it and change all the filters didnt you? The filters are yours as well then).

yes he did have it serviced but the police have it at the moment, its the one i was talking about a while ago but the thread got locked

I'd agree that eveything you fitted is yours, hope you still have the reciepts.

If you can't find the recipts ask ;) someone may have found them for you.
And on another note, off them £3k for it, when you've managed to remove what's yours, and they need to replace the items or risk getting almost nothing for it from an salvage auction they may take it.
a chap on watchdog bought a discovery for a £1 from the NFU, same situation as yours.
