Well had the Disco a week and already got the modding bug ;D Went to Woodlands last weekend and totally loved it so thought it best i start getting prepared for next month ;)
First two mods are 2 " lift and of course off road tyres 8-)
Tyres were fitted yesterday by Des who at the same time modified the injector pump to give me a little more power ;D ;D
He also gave the front bumper a little trim so the tryes did not rub 8-)
Then today we did the springs, big thanks to Mark aka Wrecker and Pete aka plant pot pete !!!! Who helped to do it, starting off in daylight and finishing in the rain and dark ??? Top lads ;D ;D ;D ;D
The truck as it sat on bigger wheels ;D 235/85/16 so nice and tall

So well chuffed as i can see now !!!!! 8-) 8-) 8-)
-
curious as to ow you have wired them on the front.. i`ve wired mine (relayed & switched) so they can be trned on with main beam... which is great as i can turn on the sides/centres on and off as conditions suit.
-
I would get rid of the bullbar and the lower part of the front bumper. The bullbar is heavy and doesn't help your approach angle, plus if you hit something they are more than likely to bend back and mangle the front end (rather than just needing a new headlamp or wing).
-
all you need now is to loose the wheel cover and get a big wheel on there
-
next you want to get rid of the front bummper vallance and trim the end caps as shown here
-
Bullbar is coming off and a new bumper hopefully will be put on, and yeah i need a bigger wheel i know :P
-
I'd put the new bumper pretty low on the list of priorities - there's not much point changing it unless it gets bent or you need/want a winch. I plan to keep mine for the time being - I need to do something about heavy duty steering parts and some chequerplate first, to say nothing of my plans for a demountable roofrack to hold the waffle boards.
-
Well finally got round to removing my old bull bar and fitting a steering guard and diff guard ;D
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v165/Pele19/DSC02264.jpg)
Have not removed the front bumper yet as it fit under it ok, but will when i sort a front bumper ;)
Also managed to pick up a nice shiny high lift jack cheap ( cheers Robp ) so took my old spare wheel off and modified the mount to fit it, again this will change when i get a spare 8-) but for now having it there is better than not ;)
Will be fitting the rear diff guard and hopefully a wading kit ;) ;)
-
next you want to get rid of the front bummper vallance and trim the end caps as shown here
here is the album link to my photos when I trimmed my bumper. http://www.mud-club.com/galleries/muddyjames/Bumpertrimmed (http://www.mud-club.com/galleries/muddyjames/Bumpertrimmed)
all you need is a ruler and a brand new stanley knife blade to trim the end caps. The valance just un bolts in the middle.
-
pretty sure he will be wishing it had come off when it and you will be coverd in mud trying to pull the last bit off after you smash it and wreck the front
my bet is sunday,or if your really lucky next sunday
-
May be gone tommorrow replaced by .......................................
We will see
-

you will be glad its off there mate, plus looks a lot better
-
Well was busy last night stripping off the front bumper and steering guard etc so i can modify and fit a nice strong bumper with tow points ;) ;)
Got the bumper from Martin ( Greengiant ) and cleaned it up before giving it a nice coat of matt black to tidy it up ;D ;D
Fitting was easy even though it was dark by the time i got it on :o ::)
Sorry the pic is a little crap but it was dark :P now i have some more clearance and a nice angle of departure ;D ;D ;D
Next will be the anti roll bars off and then maybe a winch bumper ;)
-
if u change that front bumper for a winch bumper how much would u be looking for it as i may know of a intrested party cheers
-
its looking a lot better now m8
-
nice work m8
-
Well been busy today sorting myself out for Sunday ;D
So i fitted my wading kit and sorted out a home made snorkel 8-) using a Southdown wing piece, some flexitube and some plastic hose ;)
Not the prettiest job but it works well and thats all i wanted, until i have spare funds for a proper one ;D ;D
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v165/Pele19/DSC02341.jpg)
