Title: CB Aerial Mount - Spare Wheel (?)
Post by: POSBORNE on November 10, 2008, 20:59:37
I have a discovery 200tdi, 1991 H reg, that i usually use for green laning. While off roading a couple of weeks ago, i ripped the gutter mount off the vehicle, while the whip aerial is still okay and i plan to re use. Members of group i was with mentioned that it was a common fault with the gutter mount aerial.and low branches etc, and that an aerial mount on the spare wheel carrier om the back door is a solution. Going on thunderpole/CB4x4 neither do or stock it. Any body have a solution to where i might source one or infact have 1 lying around there garage?

thanks

Paul

You can get them from ebay mate, or it wouldn't take too much to weld one up.

My spare wheel mount CB ariel mount (!) is just a piece of 2mm aluminium that I drilled a hole in for the ariel and folded into a 90 degree brakcet. 3 pop rivets later and "Bobs ya Uncle" :)

They do appear on ebay from time to time - looks like someone making batches of them occasionally. Not sure I could use one of that type as I already have the Wizardbilt hilift jack mount, so there might not be enough length left in the spare wheel studs with the extra thickness of an aerial mount to hold everything together safely!
