The Mrs is after a new motor and we arent too sure what to go for and we might have not even thought about some cars.
She is looking at the new shape tigra, pug 206 cc or a audi tt convertible and i am looking at a clio 182, honda civic type R, that sort of thing.
She is 22 and within reason insurance and running cost dont matter too much. Ideally we dont want more than 40-50k miles on the car and the newer the better.
Anyone got any other cars to suggest?
Gavin.
P.S we had a look at a bmw z3 and they are awful!
-
Mercedes Benz 500SL. :P
-
I should have said really we want as new as possible too. The Audi TT is about as old as we will go, around 51/02 reg.
Gavin.
-
Hmm, tittie age. The Lupo seems to be quite good, as my mother has one. Maybe you should look into the Volkswagen range? I have heard varying reports about the new Passat model and all Volkswagens built from that point on. Some say the build quality is now appauling, others say it is still good. :-k

Gav, This place has some tasty motors may be worth a look http://www.jct28.co.uk/154/jct28_showroom.htm (http://www.jct28.co.uk/154/jct28_showroom.htm) had a motor from them myself.

We are wanting to stay around the 'sporty' kinda car ( i know that the tigra and 206cc arent sporty but you get what i mean!).
We cant blow 8 bags of sand on a mundane passat!! Then again i have always wanted a W8 estate.......
Gavin.
-
Audi S3 1.8T Quattro!
Now thats what you want! lol
-
A s3 aint too bad but its Audi TT money and i think they are a better looking car.
Gavin.
-
Rx8 mate? a proper mans car!
Or maybe the new mr2 - a bit Julian Clarey but it's still a very fine package, you'd get a decent one for around 7k
-
if i wasnt addicted to landys and had a proper car an s3 it would be!
-
I to would have to go for a S3  But for that money you would probably be looking at one of the early models and all the low milage motors are quickly snapped up :( But something that could tick all the same boxes power, looks and all that, plus it newer :D

Probably won;t be appealing to you, but i was sorely tempted by an X type Jag estate turbo diesel SPORT at the weekend, in Black, with 18 inch alloys... all the toys....... 55 plate..... yeh, it's done 120k, but it was priced at only £5295.............
Cheap or what,............................
-
hi gav i had a civic type r. the car the way its set up is just mind blowing, only fault with it was the front tyres need changing every 6 to 8 k and that was with my partner driving it,in the wet it would spin in third a proper drivers car  you should get at least a 03/04 model with s/h for 8k go to honda for a test drive
cheers dave

Some form of sporty Skoda???

Octavia vRS
If they're good enough for (for starters) West Yorkshire &Hampshire Police to use for traffic police/pursuit duties, they're good enough for us!
They use the ubiquitous Golf/Leon/TT/etc... engine too.
Or
1. If you search around, you might find an early XK8
The '8' isn't as quick as our 'R' ;), but still a reasonable car for day to day use (automatics only)
We pay £570 F/C with 3 drivers on the policy (SWMBO/father-in-law & me, & I'm the only one without points!!!)
We see an average of 20MPG in running about & 30-33 is attainable for motorway driving
2. Just wondering if you can find a present shape Mustang anywhere near that price yet? :-k :-k (if LHD isn't an issue)
-
Yeah i cant see her going for for a XK8!!!
To give you a idea on how she is with cars, she likes this http://search.autotrader.co.uk/es-uk/www/cars/RENAULT+CLIO/Ne-2-4-5-6-7-8-27-44-49-53-61-64-67-103-133-146-236,N-210-240-4294966970-4294967142/advert.action?R=200845322594747&distance=195&postcode=DE55+4EQ&channel=CARS&make=RENAULT&model=CLIO&min_pr=&max_pr=&max_mileage= (http://search.autotrader.co.uk/es-uk/www/cars/RENAULT+CLIO/Ne-2-4-5-6-7-8-27-44-49-53-61-64-67-103-133-146-236,N-210-240-4294966970-4294967142/advert.action?R=200845322594747&distance=195&postcode=DE55+4EQ&channel=CARS&make=RENAULT&model=CLIO&min_pr=&max_pr=&max_mileage=)[/sup] because its 'sponge bob' yellow!
I have thought about a leon cupra R but im not too sure if she would go for one as they are a bit plain jane in her eyes.
Basically what we need is a car that has the girly pose factor of a 206cc but is civic type R/ clio 182 quick

How about a Honda S2000?
I was rather surprised to see them staring from just over £5grand. My misses has one (soon to be sold due to baby) and they are very nice and easy to live with.
Drink petrol and in high tax bracket mind you, but 9000rpm puts a grin on anyones face.
-
Just looking at them now :D :D :D
Just got to convince her now!
Gavin.

audi a6 i have one with 235000 on and still going strong 150 bhp 6 speed 100 mph is 3000 rpm

Dont think she will go for a big diesel audi estate when she is looking at tigra's and 206cc's/
Gavin.

There is always the Impreza, but they do seem a bit common these days.

Definately not a scooby!
Her brother has got one anyway so she wouldnt have one.
But i could try and convince her that a 3dr cosworth would be nice!!! About 350-400bhp would do i reckon!
Gavin.
-
Saab 93 AERO convertable are cheap & loads of fun IIRC @ 185Hp :)
-
Golf GTI diesel??
Go like stink and you can get one for that kind of money on an 03/04 plate.

No offence intended  'Common' as in lot's of them around, not a reflection on their owners!

How about a Mercedes 190 Cosworth.... much more exclusive than a jellymould with a tea tray attached  But, to be fair, they were awesome cars to drive. A friend had 2.... at the same time!
-
I dont think i could ever trust her in old skool rwd turbo'd car!
I can just imagine her face when it comes on boost mid corner!
She has had a quick look at the saab and she really likes them which is good :)
I think the 2.0T Aero is the one to go for.
Gavin.

Hi
I have had both an Audi S3 and Honda S2000 and would recommend them both. Would be the S3 though it you have to do lots of miles daily.
If you wait a bit longer I reckon Ford Focus ST's will be going for that sort of money. My wife has just sold hers, great car, lovely 5 pot growl but a tad thirsty.
Finally, how about a BMW 330?
Steve
-
I would buy a focus st just for the noise alone! Bet they sound lovely with a induction kit and free flow exhaust. Its about the closest i will get to owning a audi quattro!
I think she has all but settled on a saab 9-3 convertible. We are just going to hold out for the right age/spec/mileage and colour now, which is a 2.0T aero in light grey with under 50ish k with as many toys as possible!
Gavin.

How about either my BMW:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEUSX:IT&item=270301195061
or more seriously, AutoQuake have a nice Polo GTI:

Rare and fast!

That's nice. Most of them round here look ridiculous and make too much noise.
-
How about an 08 plate Focus (New Shape) with 9 thou on the clock?
For a measley £8995??
Our showroom is starting to feel the pinch and the price cuts are coming thick and fast.
The Focus isn't on here (http://finance.autoexposure.co.uk/search.cfm?Account=AETA11220&) yet as it was only reduced this afternoon, the 02 maverick caught my eye, but so fat I've resisited the temptation.

That does look tasty Ron, Very subtle
