After some off road abuse at the weekend(best trip i have had out so far thanks lads) i have got a clicking sound coming from the drivers side front wheel when on full lock and a squeeling noise when driving in a straight line.I had it up on an axel stand today and i have got some play when you wiggle the wheel even after the bearing was adjusted a few weeks back,also it has a strange notchy lump only small but enough to feel when you turn the steering wheel which i have to admit has been there on and off for the last couple of months am i right in thinking that i need to buy
1.A new cv joint
2.Swivel bearings
3.New wheel bearings
Knowing my luck i bet im going to need all 3 and can anyone tell me if im going to need any special tools other than circlip pliers and the hub nut spanner?
Oh and one other thing do i have to renew all these in pairs i.e both wheels or can i do just one side and hope that the other holds out until after christmas?

For the "clicking" noise I'd be looking at the condition of your CV on that side, normally they would only do this with the difflock in but if it's really gone then it may well do it without the difflock in.
The squeeling noise doesn't ring any bells, although it could be connected, half-shaft maybe?
The movement is likely to be the swivel bearings, you may get away with just removing some shims from the top pin, if there are any in there, otherwise it's new bearings.
If it's a 300 series then check the bearing in the back of the stub axle, this is a small roller bearing that can go and cause the end of the CV to set off a vibration in the steering. Older models have a bronze bush in there. ;)
You can do one side at a time and there are no special tools required.
For the notchy steering, check you steering damper to make sure it's not bent or has rust on the main shaft.

the knotchy steering is probably the uj in steering column give them a good soak in wd 40 and lube with oil

Oh dear sorry Peasey if it's any consolation my 110 is making strange noises as well.

Mate no need to be sorry i really enjoyed myself and was going to give it all a strip down anyway,i stripped it today and cant find anything broken but i think that it all should be lubricated in there with some thing other than ford water :lol: :lol: :lol:cant wait until the next session fella

I think thats the problem with mine as well, all that liquid really should be more lubricating :D I'll give you a shout next time we go, though it might be short notice.

Well mate if you have any bother give me a call and i will give you a hand as im now a bit of an expert on matters concerning bearing flood damage,just got the otherside to do now and then i will be ready.
