Title: Rear bearing washer?
Post by: BigA on November 15, 2008, 15:22:26
Rear bearings went on way home from work yesterday. As usual i didnt replace the spare set i had the last time i needed them  so trying to find a set sharpish as usual.

The main problem i am having though, is that the Spacer washer/thrust washer (not the locking washer)spilt into 2, and i cant find the part or number? I have tried googling, but still no luck?

Can anyone help identify this please,  [-o< its the thick one that goes in last, between the outer bearings and the first locking nut. The descriptions i have found so far are Hub Locking plate, Spacer washer and thrust washer. I can find a thrust washer on paddocks but doesnt look like the one i need.

Cheers For now

Andy

found a local supplier that has a kit that i am about to go and pick up. Doubt if it has the washer, but they say it has an inner and outer seal in the kit so you never know, as mine only has an outer seal?

OK, Bodged it for now using a spare locking washer in place of the washer i havent got. All tightens up ok, and hopefully only need to last a couple of days getting me to and from work, until i get my hands on the correct item.

Used Timken bearings this time, so i hope they last a bit better than britpart ones. I think the problem may have been caused by my axel breather being blocked, and drawing water in through the bearing seal? The breather was sorted a couple of weeks ago, and the bearings on the other side look to be ok i.e. no chunks of metal fell out when i took the half shaft out, and the grease still looks like grease, and no wobble on the wheel.

so Fingers crossed  [-o<
