Title: Discovery Diff Gaurd Mounting bolts
Post by: bigwood on November 17, 2008, 19:36:36
I have just ordered a QT diff guard for my Disco, L-Reg 200TDI. Does any one know what mounting bolts I will need for the two holes underneath the nose of the diff please. :D

Agreed, they come with metric and imperial bolts just in case....

if you're fitting it to the rear diff, and you have a hefty tank gaurd, make sure you get the top of the gaurd as far forward as you can... mine still hits my southdown tank gaurd.....

They come with the necessary bolts to bolt the guard to the body of the diff, the top mounting bracket utilises two of the existing diff bolts. The kit also includes the small bolt to join the guard to the top bracket too.

Remember, if its a rear diff guard, you'll also need the wedge-shaped "spacer"

:DI think I picked  the right one if they supply the necessary bolts. Maybe the wedge is for the prop with the rubber coupling, donut,  not fitted to mine. As for tank guard, I hope I don't need to go as far as that. My next up armour will be steering perhaps. :-k

the spacer's for 300Tdi's with the rubber donut (think you can get away without it for the 200Tdi - as its got a 4-bolt output flange from the rear diff)

with a pic being worth a 1,000 words, I hope these help ..........

I found I needed to put a couple of flat washers on the rear diff housing bolts between the diff and guard to space it out a little bit or it wouldn't sit right. I also developed an oil leak from the top  of the diff houssing after fitting the QT guard, using the washers cured it.
