Whilst lying under the Disco (!) I noticed that the rubber donut 'tween the rear prop and diff is somewhat worn and knackered looking...
I have 2" lift but it's only used occasionally for weekend use
How difficult are these to change - do I need anything particular... anything I need to know?
Advice gratefully received. - many thanks

just undo the bolts at the diff end of the rear prop (think they're 19mm mate, but might only be 17mm)
If you're running a "lifted" Disco, then you might want to considerd converting the back prop to a 200Tdi (new models aren't always progress) - need to change the output flange on the diff though to a 4-bolt type. In the long run, tis (imo) works better in an offroad 'toy' that's lifted better than the rubber coupling

Have to agrre with the above post, my doughnut has just failed in a big way!!! its damaged the prop and diff flange and is the second doughnut to go in about a year and a half!! Dont think the lift does em a lot of good, not to mention the extra starin on them if your running bigger tyres and uppped your power a bit. Plus it doesnt help having Bloody lead feet lol.

Aha... So user error and lead footed driving to blame! :evil:
Had noticed that there was a pattern to replace with 200 prop and UJ - next daft question then is... what's involved in changing the output flange on the dif?

Dont forget, you'll need a spacer or a 200Tdi prop if you do this.
That doughnut is about 30mm thick and you need to fill the gap with summat :)

Don't think it's got anything to do with the power, my LSE has the rubber doughnut on the back and it does quite well with all the horses under the bonnet. The lift does damage it but mostly it's replacing the doughnut and not even checking the bush inside the propshaft itself that supports the prop on the diff input spigot.
That's why when I changed the firtst one it lasted a year, the last one I did has been on for ages.

The spacer usually has the appropriate holes drilled, 4 for the rear, 3 for the front....
