Title: Biodiesel / Fuel Tank / Brake Calliper
Post by: Kenny on December 01, 2008, 11:46:02
Mixed lot here but thought I would get them in one post:

LR 90 - 2.5 NA 1989 Utility

1. Is there any way I can improve economy - I am getting about 15-20 which is pretty poor by any standards

2. Can I use bio diesel - if so will this improve economy

3. Fuel tank needs replacing or shoud I just take off and repair the hole

4. Brake Calliper - HOW MUCH NEW !!!!! Would it be better to refurb it.

Thanks loads

Damian

Callipers, not massively expensive and difficult to rebuild I find once they are rusty.

1. Get diesel specialist to check injectors/FIP timing/condition.
2. No. Bio wrecks Lucas FIP's.
3. Get a new one. Too difficult to weld (needs to have fuel removed & flushed) any other repair is just delaying the inevitable.
4. Try MM 4x4. They do exchange calipers quite reasonably.

For the time and effort involved in rebuilding callipers... I wouldn't bother.

I can do you fronts for £55 + vat (none vented) - outright, no exchange.
