Just changed the oil in my 200tdi, don't know what oil was in it , filled it with 10w40 semi and BRITPART filter, now when i start it the oil light stays on for a couple of seconds, it didn't before. Anyone had probs with these filters..?

Changed the filter ( mann ) and it's fine, had me worried , at 130k it's only just run in :D

Some filters have anti drain back valves in them.

I've noticed the same with my 300Tdi. My oil light stays on for a couple of seconds after starting. The filter I put on was Unipart.
what manufacturer would you say is the best, has the anti-drazin valve in it??
I'm going to change the oil again in a couple of weeks

Personally I use genuine oil filters, at only £5 it's not worth saving money.
This way I know the oil is getting the correct filtration, I suspect that cheaper filters use inferior filtering which could allow particles to circulate around the oilways.

MAN filters are ok, or geniune LR ones from Paddocks are pretty cheap TBH :-k

£5?? Where's that from?
Cheapest I can find is about a tenner compared with £2.60 for a Unipart one.

About £5 is my local independent LR garage, if you use one regularly you can get discount or as mentioned above shop online.
Even so, the difference between your costs is around £7, compared to the possible shortened life of your engine, peace of mind, and fewer problems such as your oil light staying on, it's not much to pay.
