Does the discovery have a drain plug on the fuel tank?
-
What model Disco? Plastic tanks have no drain plug.
Les.
-
Its a 3.9 v8. Whats the easiest way to drain the tank?
-
3.9 v8???
take it out for half an hour
-
I would do if the tank contained anything but water...........
-
...interesting!
the disgusting shape of the plastic tank makes it very difficult to drain/remove
you looking at a piece of hose pipe or drilling a hole in it!
-
Well its at the side of a road and I cant tow it so my options are limited, it may be an excursion this evening to drop the tank out at the side of the road.....
-
its not a matter of just dropping it out, like i say its a hanus shape and is a real pain. i would just stick some hose pipe down there and put your thumb over the end. will be slow but less agro than tropping the tank out
-
YOu can surely take the access panel in the boot floor off, remove the pick up and maybe fuel pump assembly, and the syphon it out, or, find out which is the outlet from the tank/pump, put another piece of pipe on it, and let it pump the tank empty......
Or come to that, disconnect the fuel supply pip to the injection system, and then let the pump do it's thing....
maybe....

Is it only me, or does anyone wonder how you ended up with a tank full of water?
-

id do what the bloke said a couple of posts up remove inspection plate either remove whole sender unit an syphon it out or remove both fuel pipes an push some hose pipe on end of it turn ignition on an water will pump out of tank

Not just you.

Brother in law used fuel out of can. He then used the same can to fill up rad with water. He then put a half full can (approx 10L) of water back in to the Landy. I then put content in to tank!
I have emptied the tank and pumped everything through the pump so lets see if it starts!

the only problem is mate,if its water, your pump is now proberbly knackerd,do what eugene said, take the acess panel out,and sender/pump,get out all you can, then brim it up to the top, that'l be alright
