I put my Landy in for its MOT...............now I'm scrapping it!   Its completely rotted out. The rest of it is good but nothing to hold it all together. The worst thing was that every thing was extensively corroded, including the seat belt mountings. I've had kids in the back. All this "extensive corrosion" didn't happen in the last two years, I'm guessing that it was sold to me with a dodgy MOT.
Well, if anyone needs bits - contact Solihull Mick at MRM Services. 01217 080602. Sorry, the engine is already gone.

Had the same thing with our disco!
Was completely rotten in the end, was going to cost a fortune to put right, so is now on ebay.
Hopefully someone will buy it for the engine as its a turner engineering one thats done less than 50,000 miles!
If you get a good ammount of money then look on ebay, we just picked up a 200tdi with ticket til oct and tax til march for £500 :D

So in the two years did you MOT it?
Paul

I did last year - there were recomdations but only to do with tyres and barings and stuff - nothing to do with a rotting landy.
-
Had a couple of discos and once they start to rot they go quick, very quick
Don't rely on a 12 month MOT i've seen some go within 6 months of an MOT pass.
The rot seems to spead under the underseal, looks OK until you hit it with a small hammer

usually garages that know nothing about 4x4' are the worst...as even if its not structural - they fail it - our last disco looked great - until you lifted the carpet - and it brought the footwell with it  but it still had 9 months MOT..still some 'dodgy' garages out there - even after computerisation!
-
I feel for you - I had exact same problem with the one I had a couple of years back - def dodgy garage in my case - now I know what I'm looking for they are a disgrace. Spent a fortune on nice bits for it and then spent a fortune trying to keep it roadworthy then had to sell it at a huge loss anyway. Haven't been able to afford another 4x4 since and still paying for the disco... :'(
Hope you manage to sell all the bits for decent money.
Hope it's not too premature/insensitive to ask but what you gonna get next?
-
I didn't realise how bad these disco's are for rotting away. It would be nice if you could find one with the work already carried out. Credit crunch time someone will be selling one somewhere. Let us know what you decide to do?

Not so good...
Have a look at Brightwells.com - they are fairly close to you and have a weekly auction of 4x4's on a Tuesday.
Looking through the recent results pages, there have been a few R reg 300's going at around £1250 or so...
Any good?
Hope you get sorted soon
