Hi mate i had the same problem they are electric they have a cable going from the transfer box to a transducer on the chassis rail which then sends the signal to the speedo head my problem was the live feed to the transducer.
I changed the speedo and the transducer but it still didnt work so did electric checks and found faulty live feed wire to the transducer so replaced it with a new live feed working fine now hope this helps cheers carl

If the speed transducer packs up you ought to get a fault on the engine ECU too, and the air suspension and cruise becasue they all use the same speed signal. It's processed by a speed signal buffer, packaged like a relay. You can check it's working using a multimeter or even a LED, don't use a bulb though as it will draw too much current.

Its not got air suspension and no ecu fault showing so will try the live wire option will let you know if ok thanks
