Title: A bit odd but here we go !!
Post by: wizard on December 19, 2008, 21:15:24
I need a baby seat to fit in the back of my disco.
Its for my granddaughter who is 18 months old. I dont know where to get one (apart from Halfords) or which one to get.
I want something that is nice and secure and will support  her head while greenlaning etc.
Can you lot with nippers recomend something suitable, or should i just go to Halford,s and get them to fit whatever they recomend

Maxicosi, we ordered ours from germany thru ebay, once its in, its in, very secure, very safe and excelent safety rating, cost £120, but thats cheaper than mothercare and was delivered quicker as well, recommended 100%. link here, great company http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/CARSEAT-MAXI-COSI-PRIORI-XP-TANGO-RED-2009-NEW-1725_W0QQitemZ330278732647QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Baby_CarSeats_EH?hash=item330278732647&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=66%3A2%7C65%3A1%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318 this is the newer version.

Up until last year, we used a Britax Renaisance. Expensive, but i have yet to see a better seat. Once in, it then pushes a foot into the seat, and goes very rigid in the belt. We used our for my some from the age of 10 months, til last year 5 years. And fits a Disco 1 very nicely.

The Britax website have a fit-finder for car seats which includes a disco 300.
We had the same problem as we had the maxi-cosi tobi which didn't fit at all.
Most shops won't sell you a car seat unless they know it fits your car properly. They will have a list in store and some will even fit the car seat for you.

Look up Nania; there are only a couple of places in the UK doing them but they are big in Europe. All the same type approvals ut they come out a hell of a lot cheaper.

I am happy with them and there is no way I would put my girls in the car if i was not happy.

Thanks for the replies so far.
I'll give the truck a good wash and get down to Mothercare later in the week, if i can.
Dunno how they will feel about putting a child seat in a 3 door Disco with a 5 lift and 35 inch tyres.
I'll also have a look at the two makes suggested.
The seat in mudrats post looks a little small, I was thinking along the lines of a mini rally seat.

I was very p***ed off with mothercare because we went in to buy the car seat base for our car seat.  It doesn't fit anything Iown, aparently it fits the salesperson's Audi.  Brilliant, not

That said a Britax one should fit the Disco but either Mothercare of Halfrauds sell them and should have trained staff to check the fit, Britax insist on it.

Otherwsie try your local baby store, there's a really good one in Worksop near us.

I have had a few from a £250 from BMW which was pants, Graco was ok, but Britax does seem the best all round to me, about £100 but that was for an old child.

Do look it up on the Internet first:
All the staff are useless; the "training" they get is how to sell what the shop stocks and sound impressive.

There is a lot out there that is better than the mainstream stores stock but as they don't stock it the 'trained staff' don't even know it exists and will tell you it doesn't.
