Hey
Ive recently fitted TerraFirma shocks and springs on my 90..
I dont know how shocks absorbers work really, but Im wondering if this is correct.
The front of my 90 is really really bouncy for abut 3 pushes, then the shocks go hard and its firm.
is this correct? If you swing off the side of it you can really tell when they firm up.

They are self-priming. as long as they stay firm once you have swung on it for a few hours then all is well.

They stay firm for a bit, but if it sits for a few hours it goes soft again.

The only real way to test shocks (apart from on a dyno!) is by driving. The bounce test will only highlight if a shocker is really knackered and even then, the driving seat will have told you alot more!

TBH if I'm looking at a car then I give it a really good hard shake and I'm looking for them to do exaclty what you have described. A few hours might be a bit quicker than I'd expect new shockers to drain back but basically they are designed to work like that and with a few hundred yards on the road they will have gone hard in the way you describe.
Does it drive OK?

I was told years ago to push down on one corner as far as it will go, then release the vehicle. It should 'bounce' up and go back to it's original position. If it bounces a lot of times then it's 'tired'. Do this for all 4 corners.
