first four sell these in a rrc bumper package, has anyone on here got one(the winch)? ill only want the winch every 3- 4 months mainly for a bit of "confidence" when offroading (i take my defender into more difficult situations thAN i would all my old ones because i no i can always pull it out myself)? like the idea of a winch bumper as if i leave the front as standard- spoiler and foglights itll get trashed :D main question is- will it pull the range rover?

There was a time when anything over 8,000lb was considered a bit flash, the advice used to be get a winch that'll pull twice the weight of your truck. the came along the cheaper 9,000lb and 9,500lb. These days it's all 12,000lb stuff that quite frankly is way too heavy.
Plus a decnet brand will probably be as good as a cheaper one rated higher.
Save money, save weight and fit the 8,500 and spend the change on a pulley block.

I've had all 4 wheels of my range rover out of sight in mud and the EP9 on the front pulled it through. The ground anchor was a tree up a bank so the winch was pulling the vehicle up slightly, but the winch was also pulling it through the worst bit with a single line pull and with at least a wind already on the drum so not achiving the 9000lbs maximum pull. It was rather slow though.
I woyuld have used a snatch block and then have double the maxium force, but the anchor point was too far away for a double line pull without and extension rope.

Inevitably you end up needing abit of kit you thought you could leave at home/in the shop.

Usually though enough kit is to hand to get you through at least. I've known a few situations where suitable equipment was not availible, but at least at pay and plays there are enough other people about that between you there has always been a solution. Heaven forbid the day there isn't.

A friend of mine has this winch fitted to his bobtail Disco. It did the job and pulled him out of a very muddy bomb hole at a pay and play when he popped a tyre of it's rim. I'm looking at getting the same winch for my Disco soon for the exact same reasons stated above. I think for the price of winch and bumper you can't go wrong really.

sounds good, :D especially as i useually use a double line pull even with my big warn on the defender
