Post by: JimP on January 05, 2009, 16:44:33
My brother is having trouble starting his range, I say trouble, he can't start it at all!!!

There is fuel, there is a spark and the battery is fine, but it just wont fire.

Any suggestions??

We have the AA out and he got it to start but I think it was just luck! he suggested an earth, but we have added another.

Can onyone suggest anything??

make sure that the ignition amplifier is working properly.

have you attached jumpleads when trying to turn it over? might help if the battery isnt quite up to it.

the fuel isnt contaminated is it?

we put new fuel in a couple of weeks ago so should be OK, I'll give it a try with some easy start or something to see if that works at all to eliminate that possibility though

have been using jump leads yes and it turns over really well but still nothing

How do we check the amplifier??

My mate had bad starting problem. Had a bloke out 2 look at it because some garages aint got a clue about  them and wont touch them. It cost my mate £150 2 fix dizzy. A second hand dizzy is about £70 and a new one is £146. Try another dizzy first, just mark everything up before dismanteling.
