Hi all I need to get myself some extension leads so i can move my ecu, I know scrapiron sell them just wondered if anyone knows of a cheaper more reliable source ?
-
Have seen them for sale, can't remember where, sorry. (But was about £300)
But I have been told that you can pull enough cable through to add about one meter, this means that you can put it on the bulkhead behind the seats, quite a safe height I would think.

P.s. If you find cheaper looms let me know.

Hi Jakeybaby, might be worth a chat with Gary at www.TD5Alive.com , I was over there today and he mentioned the supply of these leads, not sure how far on he is with them though, he's a nice bloke and its gotta be worth an ask, he is a member on here too, id is td5alive.
Good luck

The plugs work out to £60 or there abouts... it's just all the wires you need to fit pins to!! - it's the labour charge that shoves the cost up (and converting one of the plugs from surface mount to hard wire)
A cheaper option is just to re-route the standard wiring... you can mount the ECU on the bulkhead between the front seats... and that costs nothing bar a bit of time.
The other problem with extention harnesses is that they 'can' casue problems.... due the change in resistance caused by the extra wiring.

Alternatively, just fit the whole ECU into a waterproof box and leave it where it is !...........that's what I'm planning to do when the weathers warmed up a little.
