After replacing my head gasket it would turn out i have a cracked head so bee looking at the alternatives and what to do
My disco itself is in very good condition and has very little rust so thats a good thing
If i bought this complete head http://turner-engineering.co.uk/html/specialoffers.html , will i just be able to fit it and go or will there be other things i need to do??
Looking to get it back on the road asap
cheers

Hi Loony. Lots of people will tell you different things. I would suggest you call them and ask. They are a reputable firm, and dont think they would rip you off. Just ask their advice. Im sure thats free. You dont have to buy all the bits from them.

That's the going rate and they are new OEM parts, so is it worth £110 to not have to fit the valves, to have them matched to the guides and new springs? only you can decide.

i just want to be able to buy it and fit it then forget it
Thats why i was looking at the head with all the bits fitted ;)
If it will just bolt back on il be fine to get it and do it myself then

I had a gas flowed head from Turneer & the service & quality is excellent...IMHO well worth the money spent. Fit & forget. :afro:

You'll have enough fun doing the head bolt with the angle torquing thingy, so if you don't want the grief of building up the head then TBH with all the new bits included I'd say get the ready made head, you might get it done in a day.
Whilst it's all apart though you might want to clean out the plenum with a bottle brush and degreaser, I cleaned out the turbo with WD40 and all the pipes and the intercooler too, they will be black with gunk.

If i bought the built up head is it a case of just swap them over and its done? Do i use the exsisting push rods and rocker??
cheers

Yes you do, don't forget to set the tappet gaps though. I bought a new head with valves etc from Turners and you just bolt it down.

What engine is this for as i have a 200tdi head kicking about from and engine that the bottom end went on, maybe second hand is the way to go just a thought tho i guess you would probbaly want to change the valve stems seals as its out but i dont think they needed doing.

Sorted , i have ordered the heads complete with new gaskets and head bolts and have a mobile landrover mechanic coming to do the work on thursday for me, that way i know its been done correct etc.
Hopefully that should sort the problem
