Title: Freestyele alloys
Post by: andyhubbard on January 11, 2009, 18:49:30: Quick question guys n gals will freestyle alloys fit straight onto a 110 [-o<,it's an E plate so has drums on the rear and the normal front end or would i need spacers,cheers Andy.

They were designed for the disco and got used on 90s but the 110 is too heavy for them. :'(

Yes 'Boost' are okay on a 110, as are 'XS' style.

My 110 has 'XS' as a standard fitment (click on pic to enlarge)

If 'push comes to shove' with regard to an insurance claim after a RTC, & you're at fault, you can bet a 'pound to a penny' that the wrongly rated alloys (if you fit 'FreeStyles') will be found out, & there will be a claim that the vehicle was not road-worthy at the time of the incident

However, i dont want blame lying at my door if someone has an accident and the insurers find out about the under rated wheels because i said they could.

Bush Tucker have you got yours fitted without spacers or not (not holding you to anything so don't panic,cheers guys Andy.

What age is your defender? You may still need the spacers to clear the hubs, bearing in mind that boosts have a fair bit more offset then freestyles do

As there is more off set you may need wider arches when used with spacers.
I know that my dads boosts have a similar offset to my freestyles on spacers :?

Although they'd help to gain a few feet off a 110s 'super-tanker' turning circle

Andy, I'm pretty sure you can't fit standard alloys to a 200 Defender as th ehubs are differnet, it's only slight but without modification the alloys don't sit properly against the flange. Cherck the ends of the studs, if they have a triangle or slot stamped in them they are for use with alloys, if not then allosy don't fit.

I've heard you can grind a tiny bit off the inside of the wheels, I've heard you can remove the spring washers from under the bolts holding the drive memebers in place, I've never tried either.

If you need any axle parts let me know, somewhere I've got a whole load of bits with new bearings in them.

No Andy,sadly not

The 'Heritages' are Td5's (so no playing with bio-diesel (<errs on the side of caution>)

Neither's the 'Coventry Cat', that's a supercharged V8 :thumbup: :thumbup:
