I have an issue with my central locking, but I'm not sure it is actually a fault (I know that sound silly).
The central locking/alarm on my Disco works perfectly, not issues at all. Not long after getting it 18 months ago, I noticed that when you unlocked it, the indicators would flash once, but the courtesy lights didn't come on: something which happened on another car I used to have so I was looking for the function. About three or four months ago, the indicators stopped flashing when you unlocked but the courtesy lights came on instead :-.
The indicators always flash three times when you lock it: this hasn't changed.
It stayed like this for a month or so, then went back to indicators flashing/no courtesy lights for no reason (that I could see).
Now, yesterday, it has gone back to no indicators/courtesy lights :?
So, my first question is: what is supposed to happen when you unlock it? Flash indicators/switch courtesy lights on/both? Do I have a fault (and if so, how do I fix it) or have I entered some sort of weird valet mode?
(I do lock the car from the inside sometimes, when we have the dogs on board and travelling at speed).
Thanks!

It's a land rover, wouldn't expect anythink diferent. Does it go wading???

No, it's never been off-roaded, ever! It is the shiney one we have, it even gets washed! The Defender is the mucky one!

Come on guys, can't someone go and unlock their Disco and tell me what the indicators/courtesy lights do?
Please? [-o<

I've just been out to check mine for you (P reg 300tdi). When I unlock it the indicators flash one long flash and courtesy lights come on, when I lock it I get three short flashes. I used the remote key fob, should really have checked what happens if the key is used, sorry.

Thanks!
When I unlock it the indicators flash one long flash and courtesy lights come on
So mine is in no man's land, sort of................ I wonder if I disconnect the battery and reconnect it again if that would sort the issue out.......

I've got the same problem.
When unlocked with the fob indicators used to flash on once and interior lights came on, when locked it was 3 flashes and lights off.
Now just the door unlocks and nothing else when opened, and doors lock when closed. :-k :?
The alarm still works which is the main thing I suppose.

Well, I sorted my problem out.
I locked it, then, while locked, 'locked' it again......and and now all is well. It must have just got confused!

One button or two button?

On the zapper? Two buttons, one for lock, one for unlock.

When i unlock mine the lights come on but it dont flash and when i lock it the indicators flash 3 times. Is that right???
I got told it should flash twice when you lock it and if it is flashing 3 times the battery is getting low in the key fob ??
-
Locking, mine have always flashed three times since I've had it (18 months). They (now) flash once (long flash) when unlocking.
-
I was always told that 3 indicator flashes is normal on unlocking and it'll drop to one flash on unlocking if the batteries are flat - mind you, I've never tested it as I just replace the batteries every 18 months or so, which may be even less now that I've discovered the exciter coil do-dad that means I dont have to keep disarming the immobiliser with the fob every 10 minutes when working on it........

so maybe my disco might react to the fob if I lock mine then lock it again? Last time I tried the fob I ahd to spend half an hour getting it to unlock again.

under normal circumstances where would i expect to find the alarm/central locking control modual on a 94 3 door as atm i have no centeral locking and an intermittant alarm arming procedure?
