Has anyone else noticed the amount of new members, who without even introducing themselves
head straight to the Forsale section to try and off-load their wares on us.
IS IT ME but i find it a tad rude ! :scold: :pirate:

some forums have a 10 post rule, you have to have 10 posts in other threads before you can post a for sale ad. :|
-
Yeah, do you sell stuff on ebay??? So therefore you must be rude by not introducing yourself to every bidder!
Its always the way, people will come onto these forums to offload stuff they have come into thats relevant to marque. Its their business if they want to introduce themselves or not.
Its not like you have to buy what their selling?

In comparison .....
Do you buy from zero feedback? Are you the one that has in their listing 'no zero feedback to bid on my stuff?'
I agree with Hissy that it is rude as this is a CLUB where members share info, knowledge and meet up and arrange greenlane trips and just using it for FREE ADS is a little ignorant
But I do agree that it is up to you if you buy or not, but definately 'buyer beware' ;)

Steve

E'Bay is a different beast entirely. It's purpose in life is to facilitate the buying and selling of goods.
Mud-Club however is aimed at promoting social intercourse within it's membership(My Opinion Only) and for someone to barge in unannounced and try to sell their wares without bothering to enter into the spirit of our community seems rude........(My Opinion Only)

Im quite happy with it i must admit, iv had a few bargains not just of this forum but some other 4x4 ones, from people having found the site to sell some thing they don't really know what it is.
when i have some thing t sell i put it up as many places as i can, is that really wrong. Maybe that the guy of another forum is quite happy as he got a gearbox for £20
just thought id add my opinion.

Yes Steve, i do allow 0 feedback bidders on my stuff as everyone has to start somewhere. I also buy stuff from people with 0 feedback!
My point is maybe the people selling stuff prefer real interaction, not just what comes out of a computer!
-
this site isnt ebay and works differentley. it could be considerd rude but then again i never introduced myself so you cant just say that there here to sell stuff and not contrubute to the discussion.
-
agree with Hissy on this
we have the same issue on another forum, but less so now - if a member comes on starts selling then unless its something that would be to the advantage of the members then it will be deleted.
The rule is simple - the person must join in the spirit of the forum, then selling is ok.
-
but then again i never introduced myself
Come on Boss it's not hard ....
Hello I am Boss and I'm a landyholic ....
Then we all    and share stories
as for the selling thing yes I think it is a bit rude however is quite handy sometimes too :-k
Difficult one int'it :-k

Oh, no!!! That would only promote spam posting.
It is a bit of a pain in the neck, but then again, I suppose in some cases it could be in our benefit. At the end of the day, we are not forced to buy, and in some (I admit it, rare) occasions, it might be that evasive whatyamacallit that one of us had spent endless time desperately hunting for.
-
I think Hissy has made a valid observation and we should take note, but we all have to start somewhere so how do we treat people who joint the club to ask for our help?
As for me if I have something to sell I'll ask my mates first, then ask you guys, then stick it on E-bay. So if there's a bargain to be had should we be discouraging people :-k
What we mustn't tolerate is comercial advertising from people who do not support or contribute.
That's my 2 penneth (not that I'm selling it, for any amount of pennies ;)).
-
Hurrah!! Thank the lord, we have all managed to have debate on here with 2 very opposing opinions (of course i am right and Hissy is wrong hehehehehehe) without it descending into name calling!!!
But as said, people have to start somewhere on the forum! Do we know how many came on here to sell something, but then ended up staying and contributing???
-
FAO Badgers Rover
Wasnt having a go earlier, was a general observation  but surely it is better to contribute first.
Its a hard one to call, if new members first post was in the wanted and we all emptied our garages for a fair price would we complain??
I first came on mud club after talking to peeps on the show stand, then appeared in the pub meet ;)

LOL Steve, i knew you was having a go and are now just backtracking cos of my nice comments :-p lol
Nah seriously, its a debate, people are going to have differing opinions, its how we handle those opinions that counts! I respect the other argument and if completely honest both arguments are right in their own different ways.

it can be nice for people to introduce themselves, but theres no rule stating that, but there not doing bad what if they were trying to sell somthing cheap and you wanted it, you wouldnt say no coz they didnt introduce themselves, you'dsnap there arm off.
at the end of the day there trying to sell stuff which were all into so i dont think its a problem, but if they came on trying to sell windows and doors i could sort of understand you,
anyway there members now,
-
Well I dont show my face much on here (not many members down under) but it seem that the same old people are selling in the forum ......but a lot of 'strangers' are selling aswell
Hissy as for the intercourse bit [-X I have just been physically sick
-
I think those who use the place for business advertising are a bit much, but many people just find stuff that is relavent to our 'sport' and think there will be a better chance of selling it on here. And when I say find stuff it can be items that have been given them or they have inherrited after buying a house with a load of 'rubbish' left in the garage etc.
We were given a renovated boat last year for the Scouts but as non of us have the certificates to use it we had to sell it - as it was a specialised type of dinghy we found a forum full of people with an interest in them so we put a post on there as it seemed to make sense. There were a couple of questions but I probably don't have more than 5 posts on that forum now and haven't posted onthere since we sold the boat. Mind you, I did introduce myself in the first place which might be what the original post was all about :-k

my point as well

Well I dont show my face much on here :
With a face like yours Daz i wouldn't show it much either

Well I have an even stranger one - someone who hasnt posted ANYTHING has sent me a PM!!!!!
very strange
and weird
and worrying
-
I would agree it's 'a bit rude', but it doesn't bother me. As long as they aren't businesses which would put them outside MC rules, they are perfectly entitled to place the ads.
But I can understand the comments about not entering into the spirit of the forum.
