That one's near Rhayader rather than Radyr. It does not have a good reputation locally, and a quick bit of google-fu brings up a few horror stories that would put me off going anywhere near the place!

I don't know what all the bad blood is about this place, It not all extreme by any means, in face it probably the most varied place iv ever been.
-
The problem with that place isn't the place itself, although there are continually complaints about the behaviour of some of the people that go, but more about the owner himself, mostly to do with court appearances about his (ill)treatment of animals.
He is being watched continuously by all sorts of official bodies, from Trading Standards to the Environment Agency. Even his neighbours will have little to do with him.

I've been to Tom's quite a few times and always had a great time. We tend to go and camp in the middle of the site in that little circle of trees by the old barn thing - this is mainly to stay away from some of the idiots at the top.
The site is big enough that you can do you your own thing and not have any problems at all.
I've always found Tom to be quite personable but I'm not able to comment on the animal stuff as I haven't personally seen any obvious wrong doings. I do agree that if animals are being mis-treated then it should be stopped, but surely if the authorities are watching him this closely then he would have already been shut down if it was as bad as some people make out?
On a final note, I once put a series 3 109" on its side in the snow at Toms!

From what as been said, he seems to be wanting to be as anti social as possible to the 'system' and neighbours whilst remaining within the law. Seems to be disgruntled about being prosecuted (twice?) and forbidden in keeping life stock so uses visiting offroaders as a tool to his means. Are you a Tom's tool ?

Ha! I've met him in passing a few times, usually only to give him his cash. A mate of mine who I have been with has been going for years and years and always has a good chat with him.
One time we had a 88" roll down a hill and into a tree, pushing the fan through the rad when the engine jumped forwards on impact. Tom found us a radiator off a scrap landy and we got it up and running again.
I have heard negative things and I haven't been for a couple of years so my opinion may be very narrow and also dated.
