Hi folks how hard is it to fit a stering box a on a disco 200tdi (ps box that is ) and howw much of a job is it as never done this b4 but am willing to have a go
-
its not a hard job to do make sure u got plenty of wd40 an a decent breaker bar an sockets as the bolts can be partially seized where they go through chassis
-
the problem i has was the pipe on the box. they are 6/16 or 14mm and quite soft, may be worth getting hold of a pipe spanner or crow foot.
-
Also its a 2 man job. If you try and hold the new box in place whilst getting the bolts in and started it will get right up your nose... All my pipes came off ok with a normal spanner, maybe soak em for days in wd40 first? If you are getting a second hand box (or new for that matter) get one with a drop arm and a decent ball joint. Them drop arms can be a real swine to get off!

Sod of a job as it's so heavy. I couldn't get the drop arm off so i had to remove the tie bar and panhard rod to drop it out on the V8.

Replacing a PAS box - vehicle is a Defender, but the method is pretty much the same (Just less room under the bonnet)
