Title: 90 front wheel play
Post by: Mark_Solesbury on January 31, 2009, 13:39:55
Hey

A mates E plate 90 has play in both the front wheels.

There is zero play top to bottom so I assume that the swivel bearings are ok.

There is play left to right.

The wheel bearings are relatively new.

If you do the bearing nut up tight (only to test) , there is still play.

You can 100% feel the play between the swivel housing and the chrome ball.

Any ideas?

I would go for swivel pin bearings. If you are ckecking for play top to bottom with the steering arm fitted (i.e. both wheels connected) you probably won't be able to detect it. Try with steering links off. If you are lucky you may be able to cure play by removing shims from top swivel pin.
