Well I have spent the last 4 hours on and around the A31, helping the police clear the hogs back of stuck cars, had to pull/winch 7 cars including a merc stuck nose in the ditch, nearly had a silly woman drive into the winch cable despite all the flashing yellow lights and a guy waving his arms for her to stop!!! visibility at the mo is about 10 foot up on the top!
Even got to be on the radio (Eagle with Kim Robinson) to say hi/
Off to bed now
p.s. towed a lady in a little square car (didn't notice what...) who said she was a green activist, she said thanks a few times and added she is sorry if she has ever moaned about my 4x4 and she was thankful I wasn't, "green" tonight...ha ha
and all this after spending the afternoon fitting kitchen lights to Will's car in the cold...

Well done on saving people but....
nearly had a silly woman drive into the winch cable despite all the flashing yellow lights and a guy waving his arms for her to stop!!! visibility at the mo is about 10 foot up on the top!
....don't forget (if your insurance is like mine: winch for self recovery only), if someone does damage their vehicle/themselves on your vehicle/winch cable, you, and your vehicle, are not insured!

Did you just rock on up and help, or are you in a 4x4 Response group? I tried to join Hants/Berks but they never got back to me :(

I origanly went after hearing of a stuck fire engine on the 331 but they had sorted themselves the rest I just stumbled upon, the police where so overwelmed they just took any help I could give, another few tows as well getting over to the in-laws this afternoon.

becarefull if you join one of the 4x4 Response groups ya insurence might not cover you and some say if they find out you have been doing it they stop ya insurence so personly i would not join a group but if i see someone in need or get a call from a friend saying can i help thats different

Hi,
Most insurance companies will cover you for volunteer work (adrian flux and Norwich union do but you must advise them first) Also If you have been called out via a council organization with a "memorandum of understanding" you will be covered under their insurance. Although most 4x4 response groups have a considerable public liability insurance (SEE4x4, the group im with, do http://www.southeast4x4response.co.uk/forum/index.php)
