I took a detour this morning..... couldn't get the Merc through the ford just round the corner from the house.....

And then was presented with this.....

Not a problem in a 4x4, but I was getting a bit worried as it got deeper and deeper in the Merc

According to the caption, this ford is normally 1ft deep - what kind of muppet would just drive in regardless...?

Some people really are stupid - which is why so many fords now have gates that get closed and locked if there's a light shower forecast  :x

There was a bit about the Essex flooding this morning on BBC Look East. They showed the black car that UKJeeper photographed with it's nose in a hole.

Then they showed a dark blue (?) Disco with a roof light bar driving through the water. Anyone we know?

Had fun on the way into work this morning the police were diverting traffic of the Foss near Huningham on the hill Warwickshire whilest the council were try to clear 2 inches of Ice of one hill the diversion was sending the traffic down a road where the River Leam was now crossing and getting higher because of snow melt fortunately it was passable but I can image it won't be for to much long
Any looking to play in fords would be advised to look at http://www.wetroads.co.uk as this has categorised most of the countries ford but be careful there can be some nasty surprises in bad whether as a lot of people have found out with Churchover here in Warwickshire it run under the road normally but can become impassable even in a 4x4 in bad whether.

Judging by the wreckage at the side of the Fosse Way near Hunningham Hill I'd say there was at least one serrious accident there this morning. I also counted at least 7 other 'incidents' on the way from Leamington to Rugby this morning, and I just heard on the radio there were about 50 ice related crashes in the county including one fatality this morning. No evidence of grit on any of the roads I was on.....

Take care please folks.

Yeah, thats where i go to college!
There were 3 cars in that ditch overnight, pulled one out, the other people wanted to wait for a recovery truck.....2 days later!
The 4th pic, the fronterra wass up to its roof at 6.30 of that morning, the current was too strong for me to get a rope onto it.
