Title: traction control?

how involved would it be to retrofit a 200 tdi with td5 traction control?

very? as TC works via the ABS system you'd need to fit td5 axles with the brake sensors in place, abs valve block and then some kind of ECU to run it - is it seperate to the engine ecu in the td5 or does the ABS/TC software run on the engine ECU?

somehow i think a locking diff may be easier!

Id say nearly impossible.  And bloody expensive, each wheel has a speed sensor £50, and theres an ABS module that also works in conjunction with the TC, thats £1250,  and then theres the ECU, wouldnt like to think how much that is!!
You may be able to fit an aftermarket kit, but I doubt they exist!!!

do it manaully. Just blip the accelerator when you feel a wheel spinning. Thats all traction control does except in a very more complicated way!

TC brakes the spinning wheel so drive goes to the wheels with traction.  It doesn't do anything with the accelerator.  If you blip the accelerator then all that happens is the drive from the engine goes to the spinning wheel, and you go nowhere.

I'd suggest locking diffs all round would be cheaper and much more effective than TC.
