Post by: lee celtic on February 15, 2009, 18:40:23
Hi All

I an finally fed up with the lights on my truck.

A mate is breaking a 300tdi V8 in black and he says I can help myself to whats left after he's taken what he needs . I'm Having the floor as it's mint and the front doors and rear door

Now... how much work is there changing the 200 front to the 300 and what would I need off the other car, I need to change the front body mounts anyway so do I change the whole front steel bit or just the headlight bits . where his V8 is I can't get my car next to it to eye things up. :-k :-k

You can either cut the 300 shape front panel out and weld it in, or do some gentle grinding on the existing panel to make the 300 shape lights fit. The headlight holes need to be slightly bigger AFAIR, but I think that is about it.

No, the grille is different on a 300 from a 200.

When my mate did it on his 200tdi he glued the little plastic bits of trim to the radiator grille and then screwed it to the smash plate at the outside edges.

An easy way is to cut the metal headlight surrounds out of the donor then cut the front of yours away, then substitute just the flat front panel of the headlight bracket to your front panel.

Bonnet is the same, grille is obviuoulsy different, trim below is different. Can be done in a long afternoon :D

The cool thing is there is a bit of rust on mine and replacing the metal would get rid of it
