It's not really a hard job just abit of a pain as you have to take the whole dash out to get  to it, does your truck have air-con or without

Yeh, what fruitloop said!!

Its nuts and bolts, keep a track of what comes from where and break it into sections

Centre console out
Steering wheel off
Clocks etc off
Jesus bar off
then start to undo the rest

Not difficult but time consuming

You'll need two people at the last bit to take the dash out as its a bit floppy when loose

I don't think a Td5 dash will fit, they are very different machines.

there is a repair strip for the curly dash . got mine off ebay . about 40 quid iff i remember. sure ive read somewhere about a short cut to do the matrix. think its accesssable from the drivers footwell. bit of cutting might be involved. cant say for sure only done a 200 matrix and there certainly isnt an easy way for them .. alan

well i did it me an my m8 did it in a couple of hours was quite suprised how easy it was an was thinkin of buyin one of those kits off ebay but got the td5 dash for free an it is exactly the same as a 300 one all my 300 bits went onto it no probs even the passenger air bag dropped in so anyone with a peelin dash sod the kits off ebay buy a cheap td5 dash an change it which has got me thinkin can i put a td5 heaterbox in to get all the electronic heater dials workin or would that be too much hassle

I know of someone who in the last few weeks has replaced the heater matrix in my old Disco(300 tdi with aircon) without the dash being taken out!!! Not quite sure what was involved in doing this but thought i would just share this info with you.

there are a lot of screw holding the matrix in right at the back behind the dash, it would be easier to remove the dash i would think.
