Title: Government debt advisors
Post by: beast5680 on February 18, 2009, 20:12:51
Anyone had one of the governments debt advisors ring them up yet? they been harrassing me now for 3 days trying to "help" me with my debt :-.
the phone rings and its a 0000000 number on my call id and an indian gentleman with one of those accents you need him to repeat every word as you cant make out what he says
He explains who he is and then asks how much debt i have :-# so i tell him i,m not saying "i,m not selling finance " he says ok then and i put the phone down, they ring back , i put the phone down etc etc, is it me or does the government need to get their own house in order before they start trying to sort mine out?
seeing as i,m on the telephone preference service how come they cold calling me ? or is it cos they are not a sales based thing they get round it

Reply with "being a tax payer, around about 120 Billion pounds or so, however I do own the majority share in a number of large banks so I'm sure it'll all work out eventually"

They might get the hint

Probably nothing to do with the government. More likely something like these guys "The Entitlements Agency Ltd". They fill forms in for you and cream about 15% of the repayments off you.

Sounds like a typical cold-call fishing exercise - the government doesn't have debt advisors that cold-call. Overseas firms are not bound by the TPS either.

Just tell them you don't have any debt and hang up.

SCAM

Ask them for a phone number, recite UK data protection legislation, ask them who the data controller for their database is. Ask them their name, tell them you work for MI5 and this call is being record!

If you have the government's debt adviser ring you up again justy explain, politely, that you don't have time to help them at the moment but if they could call you back next week you will be in a position to point out the b****y obvious to them at a rate of £150/hour.
