Title: td5 half shafts
Post by: kevinf on February 19, 2009, 20:29:44

hi there just serviced the rear wheel bearing on my td5 110 and found the half shaft splines quite badly worn!

its got the rover diff as opposed to the Salisbury unit of earlier 110 and have found that paddocks don't sell  them

any ideas where i can get them from  apart from the main dealers

btw  i am not after any extreme kit unless its cheaper than original kit

cheers kevin

I'm not sure if they are the same, but I have a set of Disco Td5 half shafts sat in the garage.

Let me know if they are of any use to you.

The defender 110 rear diff was changed from the Salisbury type to the P38 type (Nothing to do with Range Rovers). This i believe was around 2002 model year. I recall being told that the half shafts are many times more expensive then the Salisbury ones and it may well be a trip to the main dealer. Maybe some aftermarket company may well now be selling something as these vehicle get older and wear. Hope it dosn't cost you the earth.......

apart from it being the same 4 pin diff centre used in the rear of P38A RR's  ;) ;)

managed to get some reasonably priced half shaft from devon 4x4
not managed to fit them yet! but they had no doubt they would fit so feel very confident that one less problem to sort
