-
C'mon chaps - there must be someone around the Kent area who could lend Will a hand ?
Me and Martin would go down and do the deed, but we're up in Herts, and Will's gone and got himself stuck in Kent
-
hi mate,im more than willing but have a massive disco, would it fit down?
anyone know where he is,?im more than happy to help
i have winch,hi lift and few mates with discos that have winches
-
Best try ringing Will (moby numbers in original post) - although he may be in the pub now !
-
i did try mate,1 number no answer, other just ringing
-
same for me. i just tried it too.
i couldnt help him, just wanted to see if the number worked
-
I've texted him - no repsonse !
Knowing Will, he's left the phone in the RRC that's stuck
How about texting him your names & numbers, and say what time he can call you back ?
-
i left a voice msg with name and number ;)
-
wrecker - thanks for your offer, having seen your pictures else where on here no way would you fit, thanks though! have been looking at the phones regularly, in a bit of a signal hole here tough. took a standard disco down there and it would only just fit
-
Oh well, you've done all you can - it's up to Will to call you back now !
BTW - he's got his RRC stuck, so you should be able to get a big Disco to him. He sent me a pic this morning, it really doesn't look that bad........unless his front wheels have sunk up to the axle
Just read Will's post............surely you'll get a Disco where a RRC went ?
-
no worries will, prob get 30 txts and msg in a bit from every body
thought id ask cos as you say,my truck is a bit big
-
need to do to mine what youve done to yours then i wont get stuck! :) thanks again
-
Very responsible going laning alone where you can get stuck.....
-
Has he been recovered yet or not?
-
Not that I've heard - might be worth giving him a call, could be worth a few beer tokens !
-
See the finger(bishops) pointers have started already . . . . . "let he without sin cast the first stone". . . . thats the bible that is! The comment made is also very helpful to william127 you tit.
-
Don't start pointing fingers we have all done it or come flipping close either way. If i was a damm sight closer i wouldn't of thought anything of getting down there to free him.
I drove a lane last year and i got through no problem as did the rest of the group following. then two days later I went through by myself and said muddy patch i got through last time stopped me dead. Cue one phone call and two hours later a tow out. Lesson learnt.
Every time the tide is out i drive a UCR that allows me to take a shortcut into Plymouth. Now technically i am greenlaning but i don't see the need to take two motors to get a paper and some milk or do some shopping.
As soon as that poor chaps motor stopped moving forwards it would of dawned what he has done. No need to lambaste the poor bloke.
-
agreed
-
its still there im afraid :( we had to come home for work, going back on saturday morning with my dad, hopefully a couple of others with high lifts and hand winches to pull it up. if you can help then please pm me as im back around the computer, sorry if youve tried to phone me i was in a hole :doh thanks, william
-
I've been stuck in some big holes in my time. I have never had to abandon my truck though. Thats quite impressive
I hope you get it out ok but if you get a chance put some pics up on here I'd love to see where you ended up.
-
id quit my job id live in my truck till i got it out,
if anyone sees it what will they take, theres some robbing s++ts out there
hope you get it out in 1 piece
-
id stand an armed guard on mine!! id be there with my rocking chair and shotgun!!hope you get unstuck soon!
-
Good luck in getting it out mate, and I'll ask what everyone else wants to ask, any chance of a couple of pics? ;)
Seriously though, if you have anything of value go and remove it from the truck. even remove a wheel or two.
Best of british chap
-
my offer still stands will
can get a few people with loads of recovery gear if ya want it,just shout and ill be there mate
-
I've got a pic, but will hold off posting it up until Will's recovered the RRC - just in case it helps some low-life-scuzz identify where it is !
-
cheers jim, your far more computer ltairate (cant even spell it) than me, do you know if your around yet? keiths coming and iv brought a new highlift and im borrowing barneys as well so we will be well kitted up. theres a decent pub just up the road :)
wrecker- pm sent
-
When you going ? The defender is in having the clutch done tomorrow, and a service so may or may not be back for Saturday - the disco's behaving at the moment so I can bring that if needed.
-
early sat morning, down there for half nine ish, out by 11, hopefully, back home for tea(beer) and medals by 1ish? could go in either 90 or disco, see what you 2 think? its gonna be a hand job to get it out, not a tow job, hence all the highlifts
-
its gonna be a hand job to get it out,

I'll have a chat with KJ tomorrow night - we have a 'meeting', usual place
-
ill ring you both at about alf 11 when your feeling amiable ;) maybe i could go round keiths tommorow and fit his m/ts and take that, cause its more manovarable? then id change them back to the r/ts (if he wants)? let me know what you come up with, ill be in ware tommorow at about 5 to pick up barneys jack. thanks. :)
-
pm sent back matey :D
-
I aim to be back in ware about 10 on sat so if you need another pair of hands give me a buzz
-
will do, thanks, you delivering the boat early then?
-
well? is it out yet??
-
Yep, all recovered - in one piece, nothing had ben nicked from it.............just one split front brake hose !
Took four of us, three high-lifts, plus assorted yellowstraps, tree straps, shackles and various ratchet straps, but it's done. I'll put some piccies up later - and I'll try and indentify the lane, as it really is one to avoid, anything wider than a standard 90 will end up down the same bank that Will slipped down !
-
two high lifts jim, plese dont exagerate ;) it isnt worth doing as it is too narrow and in slightly damp conditions its like ice, after five dry days we all drove out with no problems, had i done it today it would have taken about ten minutes   good excuse for buying a nice shiny high lift, great bits of kit them.
thanks for coming jim, and thanks for offering help wrecker :)
-
top job. well done! :D
-
Here's the lane in question http://www.streetmap.co.uk/map.srf?X=622830&Y=147257&A=Y&Z=120 (http://www.streetmap.co.uk/map.srf?X=622830&Y=147257&A=Y&Z=120). I'd strongly advise all to steer clear of it, unless you want to end up down the same embankment as Will did !
Although the surface is (currently) dry, the northern end of the lane is very rutted and quite narrow, then about 500yds in it gets really tight - the left side of the lane is bordered by a steep bank up to a field, and quite substantial trees, and the right side just drops away down towards the lower fields.

I've uploaded pics before, and did some recently - but now all I get is a red cross, and 'we can't find a gallery of that name'

Poop, it's come out really small , I had to resize the originals to get them to upload (even though they were under the 2mb upload limit)
-
:D Well done to all involved. The pics probably don't do it justice but it looks as though a vehicle with winch and some good well positioned snatch blocks would of got it out.

Maybe, but the lane is so narrow, we didn't think that you would get the right angle - the front of the Rangie had dropped further down the bank than the rear, so the first thing we did was to pull the front up the bank slightly with one of the highlifts.
Plus - none of us has a working winch , and Will didn't think that Wrecker would have got his huge winch-equipped lifted Disco down the lane in the first place

you would have needed two winch trucks, 1 for the front and 1 for the rear, then worked it up front back front back like we did with the high lifts, but as jim said acess was the problem, and lack of winches! it worked fairly well though, high lifts are great bits of kit, anyone got any suggestions for mounting them in a rangie?
-
glad you recoverd it, hope nothing had been taken,
well done everyone that helped wish i had been closer so i could of given you a hand
-
cant you get a couple of big clips and clip it to the bottom tail gate, ??
