Title: Damn!!!!!!!! thats torn it!
Post by: clover on February 27, 2009, 14:19:29
Hi,

Whilst finishing off a 2" body lift on my 300TDi and I was using the gas torch to heat up one of the body mount bolts that was being a pig. Well I switched it off and noticed I'll got flames from above. But by the time I had got the fire extinguished and noticed that i had burnt through both the plastic diesel pipes. I can join them back together if i new how. Not like metal petrol pipes that you can put a hose the jubilee clips onto! So what does one do?

Cheers

John

Something like this (http://www.airlines-pneumatics.co.uk/webcat/Detprod.asp?ProductCode=S060108) from somewhere like this (http://www.kellysearch.co.uk/gb-company-80164273.html), they should have some plastic pipe to make up any shortfall too.

Yep - 8mm I/D rubber fuel hose and 12mm fuel pipe clips/jubilee clips. The pipes are low pressure, so not much chance of any leaks.

Yeah seconded - just push it over teh old pipes as far as possible to ensure a good seal and it'll be fine.  My sedimentor is done like that due to problems getting the unions off and its been fine for months now no leaks or air in the system............
