Title: Starter motor
Post by: Sabo on March 01, 2009, 19:46:25
Hi

Had this problem before!
I try to start the 200tdi and all I get is a click, so I keep clicking untill eventually the starter turns over, had this before 1 1/2 years ago so I changed the starter - a bit of a ........ to get off in that possition!
This morning all loaded to go out and guess what - it wouldn't start, it just kept clicking for about 20 mins even after tapping the starter with a hammer!  Went and left it for 10 mins and it clicked twice and then started, any idea what is going on.
The battery is fully charged.

Many thanks

Dave

solenoid full o [!Expletive Deleted!]

remove the starter, undo the slenoid & clean the crap out, rebuild & refit, try starter before refitting the downpipe incase you have to take it back off again

Thanks for advice, looks like I've got to get underneath again, best scrape the mud off first!
