Double glazing salesman, or should i say boy , knocks at the door today and the following conversation ensues
Me " can i help you"
salesman "hello sir we,re in the area and wondered if you ..."
Me " stop right there if your selling something i,m not interested"
salesman " dont worry sir i,m not selling anything i,d like to give you a free quote"
Me " why do i need a quote if your not selling me anything"
salesman "as we,re in the area we have some good deals on windows "
Me " whats your job title"
salesman " I,m a sales proffessional"
Me "so your trying to sell me something"
salesman "No we just want to quote you"
Me " thats trying to sell me something"
salesman " No it isnt"
Me " i dont want it"
salesman "dont want what"
Me " your quote for the thing your not trying to sell me"
this conversation went on for another 5 mins before he finally decided he wasnt getting anywhere and he goes to knock on the elderly couple next door to us " they wont want a quote either " i say as he goes
salesman " they might want something "
Me " so your trying to sell them windows then"
salesman " no i,m offering a quote"
etc etc
does annoy me when they come round like that especially when he looks at me like i,m mad cos i dont want his windows

Last one I had stood at my door was just the same and would not take no for an answer.
Thing is I thought that if he wont listen to what I'm saying then I'm going to waste some of his time and asked him loads of questions before again telling him I don't want any.
Just before he again asked "can I come in and do a quote for you" I told him my house was getting repossessed next week. He was not happy but he should have listened to me the first time.
I have also done this when they phone and wont listen. I don't like being rude to people however if again they wont take no for an answer then I waste there time for as long as possible before telling them I'm bankrupt.

I just tell them the house is rented and the landlord is a tight <edit> (http://www.mud-club.com/forum/index.php/topic,42831.0.html) :^o :^o ;) ;)
When it comes to Jovo witness and the sort of thing I just tell them I am in the middle of a DEVIL worship ritual and could they come back during the day :^o :^o
If they ring,  I give tthe phone to my little fella (2 today)

   swmbo wont let me answer the door normally as i give short shrift to any door to door sales people whether commercial or religious she like to be polite, the last time i answered the door to a religious couple i was sat back in front of the telly in under 2 mins, last time she answered it took her over 30 mins being polite

Lol that reminds me of a while ago i was next door helping my mate sort his motor out when a sales bloke walks up his drive and starts talking to us he was interested in my mates cosworth.
any way the conversation got round to what was he selling so he told us about these fancy doors and windows he was selling to which my mate said no thanks mate i dont own the place
ok the guy says
i then piped up with oh i wouldn't bother going next door either
he says why is the owner a grumpy old git or something
so i said with a straight face naah mate your talking to him
his face was a picture

I remember when I was a lot younger and living at home with my family, one morning the religious people came knocking the door,so I invited them in and gave them all my older brothers details who was sound asleep upstairs,I then went and woke him and told him he had visitors, half asleep he came down and didn't figure it out as they knew all his details and never get straight to the point,I went out and left them,he was fuming when I got back,it took an hour or so To get them out and he had to buy a book, they kept coming back trying to speak to him as well,I was <edit> (http://www.mud-club.com/forum/index.php/topic,42831.0.html) myself .
