I fitted new pads to the front of my 1996 Disco a few months ago, all OK. Then my front disks were replaced for me by my FIL (ex-MOT tester). Now the brakes work perfectly but they rattle! Worst at about 25mph, the pads seems to rattle once on each turn of the wheel.
I've had it up on the jack and wheels off. I can see the pads moving once each turn, but I can't see any reason why.
Any ideas please?
Thanks!

Are the discs running true, put a marker pen on the side of the disc and rotate the disc, moving the pen till it makes contact with it. If you get a full ring of marker first time it might be running true. Or a dial gauge if you can get hold of one.It will be a lot more accurate.

A few years ago I had some work done on the wifes car at the local garage .
A mate who worked there put an old core plug inside the spring so it bounced around in the dish of the spring seat driving me mad I had the wheel of 4 or 5 times looking for something loose before I found it . Might not be this but if he's got a sence of humor it's an old garage trick that gets played all the time .
I confronted my mate a few days later in the pub to rolls of laughter from the others who all knew

Thanks.
Are the discs running true
The brakes are perfect (apart from this noise): they pull up in a dead straight line. Surely they would wobble/pull if the discs were out of true.........?

Is there a fitting kit putting pressure on the pads from the top? can either be a coil spring along the pin, or an M-shaped thing that is squeezed under the pin.

it may also be the caliper has worn out, i had one and a rear pad fell out, and it was the caliper had a grove when it had worn the pad low enough to fall in the gap,
