Title: 200tdi overheating
Post by: Chris C on March 14, 2009, 19:40:37
My Disco is still over heating!!!!!

The thing I cant work out is it only does it on dual carrigways between 50 - 70mph!!!!

If I go on the back roads and thrash it, it only gets to 1/4 hot!!!!

Or if im playing the dial hardly gets out of the cold!!!!

I have checked all the hoses for leaks they look ok but I am losing a little water I have also done the head gasket

Anybody got any ideas??????????

Dodgy thermostat??

Is it definately overheating, or is it just the gauge inside telling you thats whats happening?

Have you made sure the rad is clear of crap? Flushed it all out?

It feels hot under the bonnet if that makes sense. The rad is dirty but no more than it has been for most of the year. I haven't flushed it yet

Have you opened the cooling system bleed screws to check that you dont have an air lock that might be building up at high revs.

alrite chap check your water pump is ok. under the puly on the water pump thers a small hole that the water will slowly drip out of if the seal/bearing  has worn and also the water will be a rusty couler greatly reducing the rate it removes heat from your block. worth a check.
good luck
