I would like to convert my 200tdi Defender from Diesel to petrol, I was thinking of buying an oldish Range Rover as a doner. Only problem I can really think of is what fuel pump do I use? anything else I should worry about.. :-k (I'll be using autobox from doner vehicle)

I have just done same conversion using a 4.2 rangie lse engine and auto box. used a fuel pump from a pre 91 rangie with steel fuel tank, with a little modification this fits straight into the defender fuel tank :)

Thanks for that.. Did you move the engine forward and use the original gearbox mounts - I was thinking this would be the easiest way? Any other headaches along the way? Are you pleased with the final result, is it worth the effort.. :-k Cheers, John.

I,m doing the same job on my mates 90, you have to use the same transfer box mount on the drivers side,i had to redrill the chassis on the n/s .
Try and get a doner that has the diff lock transfer box, that way you will have everything you need,
the exhaust is a bit tricky, if you use the rangie front down pipes and Y piece , you will need to fit the rangie cross member and modify it to take 2 bolts at the bottom on both sides

I've just done this but the other way, V8 to 300tdi, if you need the fuel pump I have the one from the V8 110 sat in the garage in a box. Pm me if you're interested.
Why not drop in a 300 tdi? Whack the boost up, turn the fuel pump up, full width intercooler and a rolling road session.
Gotta be worth the effort and a 300tdi is worth a little more than a V8 110.

Why not drop in a 300 tdi?
Mainly, because you can't beat the sound of a V8....

hi John,
I've a 3.9 rrc going cheap and just up the road from you - engine seems ok but auto box is a bit iffy - does drive though. I bought it to do a similar thing to what you are doing but just run out of time since i swapped jobs. oh it's got lpg fitted too.
