Title: cruise control
Post by: iann41 on March 22, 2009, 08:29:11
The cruise control has packed up on my Preg 300 tdi ES.

When i press the button the light comes on but when i set the speed with the steering wheel switch all i get is a faint clicking from the passengers side footwell.

This is where the ECU is.

Any advice? Thx Ian

I'm no expert with this stuff, but I believe the Cruise is vacumn operated? The pipework splits and you loose cruise control!

check this 1st.

The pipework splits and you loose cruise control!

check this 1st.

Usually splits by the bulkhead first.

Check the vac hoses first but the relay clicking, is it in response to you hitting a button or a repeated click?

The tubing is split next to the vaccume pump so that needs replacing.

The clicking is when i press the button so it may be because of the split tubing.

Thx for all your advice, Ian

I've got some of that piping left if you want it - needed it for the old RRC but have a TD5 now. PM me and we can arrange to meet up (I work on West St if that's any help)

You can buy silicone hose in Halfrauds that doesn't perish in the heat like the rubber hose you already have there.  I got sick of having to swap rubber hose because it kept perishing (it's all 15 years old now) so I fitted new.

Mine does get hot under there though
