It looks like my fuel pump has died or just isn't able to provide enough pressure - I was told the pressure was low when I had the LPG system checked recently.
A replacement pump is rather expensive and is gonna be awkward to fit due to the tank being installed in the rear wing. So, I'm thinking about fitting an external pump close to the filter on the chassis rail. Has anyone done this kind of modification? What do I need to think about before going in all guns blazing?

just had a similar thing on mine, It wasnt to hard to drop the small fuel tank on mine, used a trolly jack as it had a load of fuel in it and was heavy.
The second pump might work, but when I took out the fuel pump on mine the strange bag ? gauze thing on the inlet of the original pump was all full of crap, if your pump has failed due to a blockage or low delivery putting a new pump on further down the line would mean it would have to suck through all the crap as well - if you know what I mean.... just a thought...

I have an electric one mounted on the bulkhead in the engine bay on my V8 Trialer. No other pump.

Fuel pumps are expensive, £150 for an XR3i for example. Most Ford EFi had one under the boot somewhere.

I took a look at what is actually involved in removing the petrol tank today. It looks like just 4 bolts hold it in but I can't get my hand to the top to see/feel how the filler hose is attached. Fortunately it will start on gas so I can at least drive it ... just gotta make sure I don't run out :-)
I'd like to get a look at the old one before I decide what to do. When I first switch on the ignition I can hear it run for a few seconds and then stop - I guess it's priming itself and pressurising the system and then stopping because there's no petrol being drawn through the injectors.

4 bolts sounds about right, 2 at the front by the rear tyre and two by the bumper. as far as the filler was concerned I had to hacksaw off the jubilee clip with a junior hacksaw as it was rusted on at the fuel tank end, and just eased the rubber filler hose of the flange on the tank and dropped it, there were some breather hoses on the top as well but there was loads of slack on them.

Does the pump not fit into the top or the tank?
If so i have one sat in my garden.......... ;) ;)
