Title: What's going on with BFG
Post by: clover on March 25, 2009, 08:27:33
Hi

Got a puncture Saturday night. Been trying to get a replacement since to no avail. Tried everywhere I can think off and no one has has a delivery for weeks. The soonest I can get one is the end of the month providing I don't mind paying £55 (£150 in total) more than normal for the privilege!

I did not realize that 235/85 MT tyres were so rare!

So what is happening? Are they selling the last stocks and are about to change/phase them out? I know the tread pattern has been lagged behind the competition for a while now... people have taken it and improved upon it .

Going to have to move over to Coopers or something if this is going to be the case!

GRRRRRR!

John

I have been into Southam Tyre as they are on the way home from here for 2 285/75 R16 MT as my rears have 60,000 and ok for road use but no good for Off-Road. They said they were having a lot of problems getting stuff from BFG lately and I was going to have to wait for 3 weeks haven't been back since but they are 1 of the main importers and they are obviously having problems.

Mate I've got loads... I have 5 on nearly new black modulars - 1 practically new and 2 nearly new tires. 1 only good as a spare and 1 punctured. Not found out why as yet.

Also i have three on disco alloys. Two are good for spares only and one has a puncture in the side wall which had been repaired with tire weld and it stays up but if you take it off the alloy it might go flat again but its got good tread.

I figure they are going to fetch £400 pounds upwards on ebay and i want to get rid of them all in one go.

micheldiever - michelin. Easy to confuse.

As I understand it, tyre factories have long production and then a break for maintenance. Every now and again then you get a dip in the supply. Happened to me three years ago when I wanted 4 BFG ATs for the MOT, could only find one place in the East Midlands that had 4 of the things.
