ok i have just got a rrc as my new play toy, i don't really want to spend £200 or even £100 on some springs and shocks so could i just use 2" blocks a make up some dislocation cones? or would it be better to spend £100 and get some good springs?

If its only going to go offroad just use some blocks
And some 2" box section to extend the shoxs by fitting it to the bottom
I did this on my offroad plaything a few years ago then sold it on to a mate
Its still the same now.............hope this helps
I don't see the need to spend money when you don't need to (and yes i did live in Yorkshire for a while :lol:)

Another option is to stick the rear springs on the front and red/whites on the rear (about a tenner a piece for pattern parts). This provides a modest lift and only slightly stiffens the suspension.
Unless you fit longer travel dampers then dislocation should not be an issue. If it is then effective rear dislocation/relocation cones are very simple to fabricate.

I just bought the procomp 2"+ kit (4 springs, 4 procomp 9000) form paddocks, yes a bit more than you want to spend, but its worth it. Since then ive fitted 265/75/16 insa turbos which catch everything possable. So i put 1" box section under rear spring seats and my brother made some spaces out of aluminum for the front as the damper goes through the middle of the spring. So next i extended the copper brake lines and droped the brackets, I did it this way as the brake lines needed renewing so i just made them a bit longer. But for a cheap fix just use box section and spend your money on dampers. As for dislocation cones, this does reduce your articulation but use a jubilee clip on the top of the spring onto where the spring locates. I got my cones cheap at driffield landrover show.

has any one got any pics of there spring spacer set up. also if i just chuck some 2" box section under the springs what can i do with the shocks?

the fronts easy
just unbolt the spring seat from the axle and the shock and bolt the 2" block to the axle
drill holes in the top of the block to bolt the spring retainer to and hole to bolt the shock in
the rear u will need to get drop shock mounts or longer shocks
im sure if u look around u will find second hand shocks ect for not alot of cash

If all you do is lower the standard shock by 2" though, you get no extra articulation so all you win is 2" under the sills. In time you want to be fitting longer rear shocks plus you need to check that the coils don't become coil-bound if you use spacers.

does this look any good?
all I'm looking for is a cheep lift just to get the truck up out of the mud a bit, and fit some bigger tyres. I'm not to worried about articulation as i want to change my truck in a few months.

it dont look to bad
thing is if your thinking about changing it in a few months why waist cash on this ?
just save up a bit and do it right once , u think your doing it cheep but in the end u spend more
keep a eye on ebay , im sure cheep shocks and spring will turn up

well it is my new truck but i want to cut it all up now. but with the funky roof it might make it a bit tricky tho! so I'm just making bolt on bits which i can take off.
my plan is to clean this one up a bit and see if i can sell it for more than i got it for. if things don't work out i think i might just rip the roof out and replace it with a sheet of aluminum.
i think I,m going to just buy some springs and shocks.

by cut it up take it u mean bobtail ?
if u do cut it up u can get a roof skin and swap the lot over , be alot neater than sticking a bit of tin on the roof

ye i can not decide bobtail or tray back. ok i think i will keep this one. i think changing the roof will be better than finding a new truck.
im going to get springs shocks brake hoses and cones, should do for now.

depends how clean this truck is , if its realy clean and as rare as people say u may get good money for it , then get a cheeper rrc to cut about and have cash left to get bits for it ?
