Can any of you tell me what all the different shackle pin colours mean?
I've done a google search but it didn't help one bit...
Many thanks in advance,
Mark.

I know that green pin shackles have been indivudially tested to ensure their strength.
Many companies paint theirs differet colours, eg, black rat have yellow pins and some others have blue pins.
Not sure about their testing but if it is green im pretty sure it must have been tested indivuidally.

Cheers mate,
I did think that the green ones were individualy tested, and I also think that the blue ones are "batch tested" but I'm sure somebody will be along shortly to correct me if I'm wrong....

I buy green pin ones only, just gives me piece of mind.
Id rather not risk it on a 9500lb pull [-o<

I bought blue last time as they looked the nicest colour and the weight I needed. Didnt know the colours meant anything. Thought it may have been the weight they handled but not put much thought into it.

Blue are definately batch tested and Green are individually tested normally..

Thanks for that mash,
Anybody got any ideas about the red and yellow pins I've seen?
Mark

Red is I think 3.75t???
-
The "rating" should always be cast into the shackle - if it's not - don't use 'em!
-
Believre thats the case
Think red is 3.75t...

I'm not sure about colour coding.
I have a two different brands each stamped with various ratings
Yellow Black rat
Red ARB.
Both bought in Aus so not sure if same as UK.
I always thought that it had to have a ratings stamp in it, makes sense as the colour could rub off easy with use.
